“Hermione,” he started, feeling unusually nervous. He was never nervous in asking a girl out! Another first. Yet again, because of Hermione. “would you go out with me?”
Hermione was stunned. She hadn’t expected that. Not at all. He was asking her out? Asking her to be his girlfriend?
“I know right now isn’t really a good time, but I also know that you need someone beside you to get through this. I want to be that someone, if you allow me to. I’ve been attracted to you for so, so long. Hell, maybe I’ve been in love all along!
Ever since I saw you in the train in our first year, I’ve been so confused. My family told me that..Muggle-borns..were dirt below our feet. But you..you aren’t. You’re intelligent, beautiful, witty, brave, courageous, unique, gentle, everything good I can think of. You are now, and you always have been. It was because of you that I knew there was something wrong in what my family believed in, but I had refused to acknowledge it then. I was so confused, but I was awful to you, anyway. And every time that I was, I would beat myself up for it after. How could I have ever hurt you, you who had done nothing wrong? You who had always done her best for the sake of everyone? You and your gentleness, your warmth?

She loved this day.
She loved how the world would turn into a beautiful white, how the winter air would kiss her skin, how flutters of snow would dance around in the air, how lights would light up every house, and songs about reindeers and a fat man in red would circulate all over town – she loved everything.
Even until the very end, she loved this day.
